LAKE BORUMBA BEAUTY

South East Queensland has many scenic get-away destinations within easy traveling time of Brisbane. If you are in need of a weekend get-away with a group of friends, or just some quiet time with family, we suggest heading toward Kenilworth, Imbil and Amamoor to camp at any number of private homesteads, National Parks, or free camps along the way. You will enjoy the beautiful Mary River at Kenilworth, and a must-visit area is the amazing Conondale National Park, complete with river crossings, swimming holes and a Look-Out.

Conondale Village

Fritz Park, along the Maleny-Kenilworth Road is alongside the Mary River, just near the delightful village of Conondale. Take a loop drive from Kenilworth in either direction to explore the little townships of Cambroon, Witta, and Kidaman Creek, passing through pastures and valleys.

Heading North

For a little more adventure while staying at Kenilworth, head North to Brooloo and Imbil – all of these country towns offer pleasant hospitality and local services. Many have markets on the weekends, which are great for a poke around.

The Lake Borumba area offers powered and unpowered camping sites in a spacious area, along Yabba Creek. Bush walk in the nearby State Forests, which also cater to mountain biking and bird watching. Ski, fish, canoe and swim in Lake Borumba, which is an aquatic recreational playground. Picnic on the shores and relax the day away, Lake Borumba is an awesome spot to go camping, with so many places to explore close by. Lake Borumba is roughly two and a half hours north-west of Brisbane, and is a great get-away spot from the bustle of city living!
